Militia will host a table at the supercharged ThIS IS NOT ART Independent, Emerging + Experimental Arts Festival this weekend in Newcastle. Series 1 T-shirts will be available for sale and to order from the Militia table at the Sunday (October 4) Zine Fair in GHETTO TOWN on top of the King Street Carpark.
As a special offer for fair goers, shipping will be free for any orders of T-shirts, paid up-front that aren’t in stock or have sold out at the fair. To find out more about the Festival you can check out the official website at http://www.thisisnotart.org/
Militia is growing and the hideout has been busy. With some more established and indie media steering away from an affiliation, it’s nice to know we have something to say that makes people nervous.
These are early days, Militia is still very young and has only just found her voice. Watch for updates as we build up globalmilitia.com with new tee-shirt designs and new photography on the slate. If you are a member of Facebook, you can join the Militia group to make feedback easier, stay posted on Militia developments or just show your support in number form. It’s a necessary evil but we are not trying to hide.
Finally, to the Brisbane art community, we give a big shout out. Their support has given us an inspiring sense of hometown togetherness. Our causes don’t always align, but the desire to be heard and the need to speak seems to run common. Keep fighting the good fight.
Like the evolution of predator and prey, mainstream media and it’s audience have always had an unstable relationship. The truth we see, hear and read is subjective, and the facts are subject to change without notice. Finding your bearings in this environment is a clumsy process and as a result many have resigned to perpetual complacency. Complacency will render us collectively culpable.
So by the rationale of democracy and freedom we must ask questions, of ourselves, of others and of those that represent us. It is our responsibility to keep questioning until the answers demonstrate diligent pursuit of truth and fairness.
This is the Militia ideology, we are not the first and hopefully not the last, but we will be counted amongst those who tried to make a difference. We wear our heart on our sleeves and our hand on our heart.
